"Move out man! Life is fleeting by. Do something worthwhile, before you die. Leave behind a work sublime, that will outlive you and time."
- Alfred Montepert

Letter from Matthew
When first hearing about ContribuNet and their ideology and goal, I knew this would be a daunting task. ContribuNet required a database of organizations that customers may chose from and pick to donate part of their monthly fee to. Designing the database was a key part in the stability and expandability of ContribuNet. The database contains from the member information, credit card numbers, checking accounts, email accounts, RADIUS or dialup accounts, to the accounting system, automated nightly charging, and organization information. Each organization can have up to three categories that customers can search for them by.

The main ContribuNet website is driven by Cold Fusion 4. The website that you see is dynamically created from multiple CFM files. The header is compiled, dynamic content is added to the body, and a footer is appended. As you may notice right away when viewing the ContribuNet website, at the bottom of the page, is the total amount donated by customers to organizations through ContribuNet. This total is real time. The second a customer signs up, or the second a card is charged for monthly billing, the total increases.

When a customer has successfully signed up, they are offered an optional INS file. This file contains all the important information for the customer to set up their computer. They simply download the file and run it, and Windows will auto-configure their machine to the newest settings, instantly bringing them online. Well, you may ask, wouldn't they have to wait for their account to be turned on? The answer is no. The second their credit card is approved, the system generates their account in the RADIUS server, giving them instant access to the Internet.

Due to the rising demand of website's for organizations, ContribuNet had to come up with a solution. We decided to create home.contribunet.org. When a customer signs up for internet service, their browser's homepage is set to this URL, customized to the organization. As stated earlier, this is also dynamic. When an organization logs in through their account at ContribuNet, and updates their Mission Statement, instantly their website is updated, along with other parts of ContribuNet. ContribuNet also met the demand of organizations having their own domain name. As the Internet grows, concerns from parents rise. ContribuNet understands the concerns of these parents, and offer content filtering for a small additional fee. The great thing about this filtering service is no software download is required. The ContribuNet system configures the RADIUS to filter your entire Internet service. From the second you dial in, to the second you disconnect, we are protecting you and your family from the undesirables of the Internet. With this small additional fee of only one dollar, employees hired full time are working hard at improving the filtering service. Yes, we have full time employees scanning the Internet for harmful websites, to ensure your family gets the best protection available out there.

The wave of the future of the Internet is broadband. ContribuNet is meeting this demand and pushing it to the limits. ContribuNet will be offering multiple broadband solutions at amazing prices. Within the near future, for a few dollars more, you can accelerate your dial-up connection five times faster. High-speed satellite is almost available. IF you have a clear view of the southern sky, then you can receive ContribuNet's high-speed satellite Internet! Now if that wasn't enough, ContribuNet will be offering DSL access to those who qualify starting September. If you have any questions or comments, please, do not hesitate to e-mail me.
